The Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services (DCCMS) of Malawi has issued its latest weather forecasts for the first week of May 2026. According to the DCCMS, the country is currently under the influence of a southeasterly air mass. Malawians can expect generally partly cloudy and cool to hot conditions across the region.

The department's forecast specifically notes a chance of isolated rainfall over northern lakeshore areas, such as Karonga. Additionally, lakeshore communities may experience occasional windy and foggy conditions as the month begins, according to the official DCCMS update.
