Update: FDH Bank has officially lifted its temporary suspension of all sports sponsorships in Malawi following discussions with the Super League of Malawi, the Football Association of Malawi, and other stakeholders. According to Pan-Africa Football, the commercial bank confirmed the decision on May 4. The resolution reinstates financial support for the FDH Premiership, the national football team, and the national netball team. The suspension was originally triggered by a venue dispute involving Kamuzu Stadium.

The return of the sponsorship coincides with the upcoming Blantyre Derby between Mighty Wanderers and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets. Maravi Express reports that the fixture is scheduled for Sunday at the Bingu National Stadium, as Kamuzu Stadium remains closed over safety and health concerns. The Wanderers enter the match following a 2-1 victory over Creck Sporting Club, while the Bullets recently secured a 1-0 win against MAFCO.

Update: The Malawi under-20 women's national team suffered a 2-0 defeat to Nigeria in the first leg of their FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup qualification tie. According to CAF Online, Nigeria opened the scoring shortly after halftime through a Malawian own goal, and K. Ifeanyi added a second goal in the 57th minute. The two teams will meet for the return leg on Saturday, May 9, at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
