Update: Zimbabwe's Hwamanda Dance Troupe earned enthusiastic applause at the 17th NASFEST International Youth Cultural Festival in Malawi, according to The Herald. The festival began in Salima before moving to Lilongwe for live music, fashion showcases, art exhibitions, and a street carnival. Update: The Royal Shakespeare Company's stage adaptation of "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind" continues its run at London's Soho Place Theatre. Based on the true story of Malawian inventor William Kamkwamba, the West End musical tells the story of a teenager who built a windmill to save his village during a severe drought. A May 4 review from Patheos stated the author absolutely loved the play and predicted the music will become a popular standard.
Update: Several Malawian musicians released new tracks this week. According to the music platform Amati Zambiri, rapper Krazie G debuted a new song titled "Fine" featuring Crispy Malawi on May 4. Other local artists, including Quest, Man Chiko, and Dirty Flo, also published new singles on May 5, adding to a steady output of domestic urban music.
