The International Korfball Federation has announced that Blantyre will host the inaugural U19 All-Africa Korfball Championship, according to the organisation's official website. The youth tournament is scheduled to take place from September 18 to 20, 2026. The competition will be held alongside the senior IKF All-Africa Korfball Championship South division, providing a new platform for emerging youth talent in the sport.

In domestic football, the Football Association of Malawi has officially granted full club licences to all 12 teams in the National Division League. According to a May 6 statement published by the association, the approval clears the participating clubs for the upcoming domestic season.

Update: Following the Young Scorchers' 2-0 loss to Nigeria in the first leg of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup qualifier, head coach Maggie Chombo remains optimistic about her team's chances. Speaking to Pulse Sports Nigeria, Chombo stated that the squad has learned from their away defeat and is fully capable of overturning the deficit on their home pitch. The decisive second leg is scheduled for May 9 at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
