Update: Following earlier coverage of the Kamuzu Stadium ban that forced the Blantyre derby to Lilongwe, Mighty Wanderers FC has formally protested the Super League of Malawi's (Sulom) decision to delay the match against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets. According to Malawi Nation, the club's board secretary Chancy Gondwe submitted a letter on May 6 demanding a review after Sunday's fixture at Bingu National Stadium was shifted from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The team expressed concerns over a lack of consultation, supporter confusion, and the challenge of playing the second half under floodlights without prior acclimatisation.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture has completed required renovations at the closed Kamuzu Stadium, Malawi Nation reports. Ministry spokesperson MacMillan Mwale confirmed that upgrades to the toilets, technical benches, scoreboards, and drainage systems are finished. He noted that officials are taking extra time to clear the facility's surroundings before formally inviting the Football Association of Malawi to conduct a new inspection.

Update: Building on earlier reports of the first-leg result, Nigeria's U-20 women's football team plans to maintain an attacking strategy in their decisive World Cup qualifier return leg against Malawi's Young Scorchers, according to Pulse Sports Nigeria. Falconets head coach Moses Aduku stated his team will not sit back to defend their 2-0 aggregate lead during the Saturday, May 9 clash in Lilongwe. The aggregate winner will secure a spot at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Poland.
