The High Court of Malawi Financial Crimes Division has maintained restrictions on four bank accounts linked to the controversial sale of the Amaryllis Hotel, while clearing two operational accounts to allow the business to continue functioning, according to Nation Online. In his ruling, Judge Redson Kapindu stated that the partial release followed a mutual agreement between Yusuf Investments Limited, the Anti-Corruption Bureau, and the Financial Intelligence Authority. The accounts were initially frozen in March as part of an ongoing investigation into the hotel's acquisition by the Public Service Pension Trust Fund.

In other legal news, the Malawian government is currently reviewing the Child Care, Protection and Justice Act alongside the Adoption of Children Act to address emerging child protection challenges. Deputy Minister of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare Martha Mzomera Ngwira announced the legislative review during a regional child welfare conference in Zambia, MBC reports. Ngwira noted that the reforms are intended to strengthen family-based care systems and ensure that institutionalisation remains a last resort for vulnerable minors.
