NBS Bank has increased its sponsorship package for the National Division League by 96 percent, raising the total fund from K270 million to K530 million for the 2026/2027 season, according to Africa Top Sports. NBS Bank Head of Marketing Frank Magombo announced the financial boost, stating the investment aims to support football development across all four regions of Malawi. Under the new agreement, the league champions will receive K25 million, and each participating team will be provided with a K20 million subvention and two sets of uniforms. Football Association of Malawi official Daud Ntanthiko praised the bank for supporting the sport at the developmental level.
Update: The Malawi Under-20 Women's National Team, known as the Young Scorchers, defeated Nigeria 2-1 in their FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup qualifying second leg at Bingu National Stadium, Africa Top Sports reports. Returning Sweden-based forward Faith Chinzimu scored both goals for Malawi. However, because the team lost the first leg 2-0 in Nigeria, they were eliminated from the World Cup qualifiers 3-2 on aggregate.
