A Malawian delegation led by Minister of Natural Resources Patricia Wiskies has travelled to Ghana to study the West African nation's approach to carbon markets, waste management, and single-use plastics regulation, according to GhanaWeb. The learning visit aims to help Malawi develop its own carbon trading framework to mitigate global warming impacts and secure essential climate development funding.
During the engagement in Accra, Wiskies stated that carbon markets are important climate instruments that will assist African nations in addressing the severe economic and ecological effects of climate change, GhanaWeb reports. Ghanaian environmental officials noted the meetings present an opportunity to strengthen South-South cooperation and develop practical pollution control policies that can be replicated across the continent.
Update: On the domestic front, the Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services has issued a fresh advisory regarding occasional Mvuma winds over Lake Malawi and other national water bodies. According to the agency's latest forecast, lake users are advised to remain on alert as an easterly air mass continues to drive partly cloudy, windy, and mild to hot conditions across the country.
