Black Missionaries Band’s performance at Club 24/7 in Blantyre turned into a spontaneous late-night moment when fans called for gospel artist Evance “Watsopano” Meleka to perform after he was spotted in the crowd, according to Nation Online. Nation Online reports band leader Anjiru Fumulani initially invited Meleka on stage to greet patrons, but the audience demanded he sing, prompting him to perform songs including Adzakuiwala and Mawanga a Nkhanga, as well as Adakukana.

In Lilongwe, Khitchini Hub at City Centre will host a book festival on March 7 to promote reading culture, according to Nation Online. Nation Online reports the Books and More-organised event will feature arts and crafts, music, an open-mic segment for poetry and spoken word, games, and children’s activities, with book sellers invited to set up stalls. Nation Online quotes Books and More assistant Cephas Chiyabwe as linking declining hard-copy reading to digital distractions, economic pressures, and limited access to libraries and bookstores, while writer Chifuniro Banda says the festival gives authors a chance to connect with readers.
