FAM Announces Airtel Top 8 Schedule as Flames Reveal Squad for Ethiopia Friendlies

The Football Association of Malawi has released the quarterfinal fixtures for the 2026/27 Airtel Top 8 tournament, which will feature a K40 million prize for the ultimate winner. According to the Football Association of Malawi, the return leg matches will take place on July 11 and 12. These return fixtures include Ekhaya FC hosting FCB Nyasa Big Bullets at Mpira Stadium, and Civil Service United facing Blue Eagles at Civo Stadium. The following day, Creck Sporting will play Mighty Wanderers at Aubrey Dimba Stadium, and Karonga United will welcome Silver Strikers at Karonga Stadium. The tournament final is scheduled for August 29, with participating teams each receiving K4 million.

In other football developments, the Football Association of Malawi began a five-day Beach Soccer Referees Course in Salima on May 27. Africa Top Sports reports that the training involves 25 Malawian referees selected from regional associations. The program focuses on physical conditioning on sand, match management, and the FIFA Beach Soccer Laws of the Game. Successful participants will receive FIFA MA Beach Soccer Referee certification, making them eligible to officiate regional and international matches.

Update: Following previous coverage of the Flames' preparations for their June friendlies against Ethiopia, head coach Kalisto Pasuwa has officially detailed his 23-man squad. According to Africa Top Sports, the roster features 14 foreign-based players and includes first-time national team call-ups for Luciano Matthew Rundles, Christopher Kumwembe, and Francisco Madinga. Pasuwa stated the technical panel is using the matches to assess a wider pool of players ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
