The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) has officially opened applications for primary and secondary school teachers to mark the upcoming national academic assessments, according to Ajira Portal. MANEB is seeking qualified educators to evaluate the Primary School Leaving Certificate Examination (PSLCE), the Junior Certificate of Education (JCE), and the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE). To be eligible, diploma holders must have a minimum of five years of teaching experience in their respective subjects, while degree holders need at least three years. Interested candidates are required to submit their applications online along with a recommendation letter from their headteacher by March 20, 2026, Job Search Malawi reports.

In other education news, Scottish non-governmental organisations have formally welcomed the Malawi government's recent decision to implement free public secondary education and abolish examination fees, MBC Online reports. Speaking during a Scotland Malawi Partnership session in Edinburgh, representatives from the Mamie Martin Fund described the policy as a major step toward helping young people and improving access to schooling. Minister of Gender, Child, Disability and Social Welfare Mary Navicha attended the session and praised the 20-year partnership between Malawi and Scotland. She noted that the free education initiative will directly benefit vulnerable families and young women.

Meanwhile, Magomero Community College is preparing to partner with Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom to improve its academic programmes, according to MBC Online. Minister Navicha recently led a Malawian delegation to negotiate a memorandum of understanding aimed at developing institutional links and improving the training of social workers. Nottingham Trent University has expressed a willingness to help the college offer degrees that meet UK standards. This move could eventually allow Malawian social welfare graduates to access international job opportunities.
