Malawi joined international transparency partners in Kigali, Rwanda, for the first centralized group review of Biennial Transparency Reports, according to a June 3 announcement by UN Climate Change. Malawian environmental experts worked alongside representatives from Burkina Faso, Niger, and Rwanda during the six-day pilot program. The initiative provided technical training to help these nations track their environmental progress and improve climate data reporting required by the Paris Agreement.

Update: On the domestic front, the Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services continues to track cool weather conditions affecting the country. According to the department's early June forecasts, a moist air mass flowing from the Indian Ocean is causing persistent cold, windy, and partly cloudy conditions across Malawi. The weather authority also advised that fog patches are likely to develop over highland and valley areas during the night and early morning hours.
