Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (Kuhes) is celebrating its fifth anniversary since separating from the University of Malawi to become an autonomous institution. According to Malawi Nation, the university, which was formed by merging the College of Medicine and Kamuzu College of Nursing, is being recognised as a centre for research excellence and a national health powerhouse.

Update: During the Catholic University of Malawi's 25th Congregation, Chancellor Bishop Martin Anwel Mtumbuka challenged the newly graduated students to prioritise integrity and moral values as they enter the workforce. AMECEA News reports that commencement speaker and Malawi Electoral Commission Chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanja echoed this message, urging graduates to reject corruption and protect their professional character.

Update: Expanding on recent continental recognition, Malawian technology firm Access Ability Africa Limited officially received the Best Inclusive Innovation award for its "Blind Classroom" platform at the 7th Inclusive Africa Conference in Nairobi. According to the Nyasa Times, the platform is specifically designed to assist visually impaired learners in Malawi with easier access to educational materials.

In school funding news, the refugee advocacy organisation 'There is Hope' warned that financial constraints could force the suspension of its education and vocational training programmes by the end of June. Communications coordinator Madalitso Mvula told Nation Online that the funding shortage immediately threatens education access and leadership development for hundreds of students in the refugee community.
