Namuleri Farms Limited was named Best Agribusiness Farm at the 2026 National Product Magazine Mid-Year Awards held in Lilongwe, according to the Nyasa Times. The company was recognised for its production of tobacco, maize, cassava, and fruit crops, as well as its contributions to agricultural development and national food security. Humphreys Thondolo, the farm's assistant managing director, stated that the award reflects their commitment to increasing productivity and community development.

In the fertiliser sector, the Malawi Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) is facing accusations of delaying local investments by stalling the approval of Environment and Social Impact Assessment reports, the Nyasa Times reports. Local investors, including Napoleon Dzombe, who is seeking approval for a proposed Mulalo granular fertiliser manufacturing plant in Dowa District, have raised concerns over the extended delays. However, MEPA has denied responsibility for stalling the Dowa fertiliser factory project, according to Radio Islam.

Meanwhile, the Center for Development Management and Consulting has launched online Continuous Professional Development modules to train health workers in tobacco harm reduction, the Nyasa Times reports. More than 500 nurses and midwives across Malawi have completed the specialised training. The modules equip frontline workers with skills to identify tobacco use, deliver counselling, and support patients in quitting smoking.

Additionally, the Centre for Applied Systems Analysis recently showcased a model farm in Malingunde, Lilongwe, aimed at demonstrating land restoration, the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation reports. The farm provides practical training for local communities in agroforestry, soil management, and moisture retention to better prepare them for climate change.
