Update: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has facilitated the voluntary repatriation of 150 Malawians from South Africa following distress calls over xenophobic violence, according to Channel Africa. The returnees, who had sought refuge in temporary camps in the Western Cape Province, travelled by road through Zimbabwe and Mozambique to the Mwanza Border Post. Voice of Nigeria reports that the evacuation was coordinated by a multidisciplinary task team from the Malawi High Commission in Pretoria, which has continued diplomatic talks with South African authorities to ensure the protection of remaining citizens.

Update: A United Nations technical review has identified weaknesses in Malawi's governance and reporting arrangements for international carbon markets under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, according to Carbon Pulse. The assessment raised concerns regarding the transparency, accounting practices, and overall environmental integrity of the country's current carbon trading plans.

On the global health aid front, Malawi has officially opened its first public radiotherapy facility with financial and technical backing from the International Atomic Energy Agency, according to statements delivered at the agency's Board of Governors meeting. The US Mission to International Organizations in Vienna noted that the project, part of the Rays of Hope initiative, received direct expertise in radiation oncology and medical physics from the US-based MD Anderson Cancer Center to strengthen local cancer care capacity.
