According to Nation Online, Malawi Police head of prosecutions Prescot Mwayiulipo received the stay order, which halts any intended arrest of Kapondamgaga until a hearing can determine the legality of the warrants.
The Independent Complaints Commission has completed 268 investigations out of 592 complaints lodged against police officers since August 2021. Briefing the media in Lilongwe, ICC deputy director of investigations Grant Kankhulungo stated that the commission has secured three convictions, recommended 22 cases for prosecution, and cleared officers in 18 complaints, Nation Online reports.
