The Department of Disaster Management Affairs has begun decommissioning 13 displacement camps in the Nkhotakota district, according to Dialogue Earth. The department is currently facing an 11.7 billion kwacha deficit in its emergency flood response budget.
Commissioner Wilson Moleni stated that the government is providing recovery packages to assist individuals affected by the camp closures. These packages contain essential supplies including maize, beans, and roofing materials to help displaced residents resettle.
