Former Malawi national football team coach Ernest Mtawali has been appointed as the new head coach of the FDH Bank Premiership side Creck Sporting Club on a two-year deal, according to SuperSport and Nation Online. Mtawali replaces Eliya Kananji, who was dismissed after a poor start to the 2026 season left the Lilongwe-based club third from the bottom of the league table. Club officials stated that they are relying on Mtawali's extensive coaching experience to move the team away from the relegation zone.

In the NBS Bank National Division League, an important Matchweek Four fixture is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, as second-placed Songwe Border United takes on third-placed Embangweni United at Rumphi Stadium, according to Africa Top Sports. Both teams are currently tied on seven points, level with table leaders Ndirande Stars, who will host Ntaja United on Sunday at Mpira Stadium.

Update: Flames head coach Kalisto Pasuwa has called for a positive response in the national football team's second friendly match against Ethiopia, reports Africa Top Sports. Following an early goal that led to a defeat in their first encounter, Pasuwa highlighted the need for better concentration and noted that a strong result is necessary for building player confidence ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Meanwhile, the group stages of the 2026 Telkom Netball League in South Africa have concluded as the tournament heads into its final week, according to SABC News. The competition features the Malawi Queens Cubs (the Under-23 national team) participating as a regional invitational team alongside Zimbabwe, playing against 16 South African provincial sides.
