In local music news, Malawian hip-hop artist Gwamba is preparing to host the "Landlord Pakwao Concert" featuring Nigerian artist Ruger at the Bingu National Stadium on August 1, 2026. According to Malawi24, organisers expect the event to provide temporary income for more than 1,500 Malawians across sectors like security, stage management, and transportation. The decision to secure the stadium aims to accommodate a larger crowd and increase the concert's financial benefits for the local community.

Meanwhile, the Blantyre Arts Festival has partnered with Zimbabwe's Apama Arts to offer international tours to local talent, Nation Online reports. The programme will select 15 Malawian and 15 Zimbabwean artists through upcoming auditions at the Blantyre Museum, focusing on music, dance, and poetry. Selected performers will travel to countries such as China, Germany, Australia, and the United Kingdom. This tour is scheduled to coordinate with the Blantyre Arts Festival, which will run from October 2 to 4.

On the new music front, poet Robert Chiwamba and musician Sangie have released a collaborative track titled "Chikondano," blending spoken word and song. Nation Online notes that the Christian hymn-inspired composition is the lead single for Chiwamba's upcoming album, "Evangelist Shadreck Wame," which has an August 3 release date. This release marks the third joint project for the two artists as they continue to merge poetry with modern music.
