Exploits University held its latest graduation ceremony over the weekend, conferring degrees and diplomas on more than 1,200 students across various disciplines, according to Nyasa Times. University President Professor Desmond Bikoko stated that the institution has successfully completed critical academic and regulatory processes to comply with national higher education standards. He confirmed that the university has been formally re-registered and has received regulatory approval to introduce several new academic programmes.

In education policy news, the government has increased transport and special allowances for teachers and other civil servants, Nation Online reports. The adjustments follow negotiations involving the Government Negotiating Team, the Teachers Union of Malawi, and the Civil Servants Trade Union. Effective June 1, transport allowances for officers in Grades E to R increased from K30,000 to K50,000 per month, while special allowances across various administrative grades were raised by K10,000. Secretary for Human Resource Management and Development Hillary Chimota directed controlling officers to implement the changes within the approved 2026 to 2027 budget allocations to help cushion educators and public workers against rising living costs.
