Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Charles Mhango has informed a parliamentary ad-hoc committee that the final report on the fatal military plane crash by the Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation is incomplete, according to Nyasa Times. Speaking on June 17, Mhango stated the report failed to provide proper closure because it did not explain the absence of flight recorders. He argued that investigators should have determined whether the aircraft was originally manufactured without cockpit voice and flight data recorders or if they had been removed.
In South Africa, tensions have escalated in Durban as police fired rubber bullets and stun grenades at protesting Malawian migrants, reports the Associated Press. Following delays in the voluntary repatriation program, the South African Department of Home Affairs established a priority immigration court at a local community hall to expedite legal proceedings. According to the department, 1,876 Malawian nationals were identified as being in the country without valid documentation and are now subject to formal deportation orders.
