Staff at the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) have declared a labour dispute after rejecting a salary adjustment approved by the University Council, according to Zodiak Malawi. The MUST staff union is demanding a 60 percent salary increase for the 2026/2027 financial year. Staff Union President Mulonyeni Chisi stated that the management's approved staggered adjustment of 5 to 25 percent falls considerably short of their demands. Union members have begun holding demonstrations during their free time to express their dissatisfaction with the council's decision.
