Update: The Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) is set to begin buying cotton in its designated market zones, offering relief to farmers who have faced recent purchasing delays. According to Nation Online, ADMARC will operate in areas including Karonga, Nsanje, Mwanza, and Phalombe. The Cotton Council of Malawi confirmed that while Afrisian Limited and Illovo Sugar are already participating in the market, other buyers such as Malawi Cotton Company and Masapa Ginners have yet to enter.

In the livestock sector, smallholder farmers in Mzimba are anticipating economic improvements following the official handover of new agricultural infrastructure in the district. Malawi24 reports that the new facilities, which include a cattle market and refurbished dip tank, are expected to change how local farmers care for and sell their animals.

Meanwhile, a farming community in northern Malawi is adopting new green technology to prepare fields for planting. According to Farm Future Africa, farmers in Mzamu village are now using solar-powered micro electric tractors built by the UK-based company Aftrak. The machines are designed to break through hardpan soil without relying on diesel fuel, and developers plan to expand the equipment to more rural communities across the country.
