Ministry of Health officials from Malawi recently joined counterparts from Kenya and Zambia to prepare for the future rollout of new tuberculosis vaccines for adults and adolescents, according to a World Health Organization update released on June 23. During a planning workshop in Nairobi, the three nations emerged as early leaders in preparing for the new class of vaccines, which could be licensed as early as 2029. To maximise impact, the participating countries agreed to establish technical working groups to guide the integration of the vaccines into national immunization strategies and secure domestic financing.

In the local health insurance sector, MedHealth received two major industry accolades, Nation Online reported on Tuesday. The company was named the Most Preferred Health Insurance Provider at the Consumer Choice Awards Malawi and won the Service Excellence Award from the Chartered Institute of Customer Management during ceremonies held in late May. Company representatives noted that the double recognition will motivate their ongoing efforts to expand access to affordable healthcare coverage across the country.
