Malawi is set to host its first all-DJ festival, the TMV Jam Session, which will debut on March 29 at the Aero Lounge in Lilongwe, according to Nation Online. Organised as a rebranding of the Mighty Virus Jam Session, the event aims to combine musical performances with advocacy for mental health and social behaviour change. DJ Mighty Virus, one of the leading organisers, stated that the initiative will feature diverse sounds and eventually transition into a two-day festival in a lakeshore district in November. The lineup includes several prominent local performers such as DJ Thando, DJ Bubble Gum, VJ Ice, and DJ Skippy, supported by event partner Five79 Entertainment.
In the theatre scene, a new stage production titled "Until I Afford Soap" is highlighting the economic realities of everyday Malawian life. Nation Online reports that the play, which has its final scheduled weekend shows on March 7 and 8 at the Madsoc Theatre in Lilongwe, examines youth ambition, unemployment, and personal dignity through the story of children befriending an isolated man named Amos. The production is a joint project between Norwegian playwright Sunniva Roligheten and Malawi's Mwezi Arts, with direction by Stanley Mambo. The cast features local actor Theodore Pleasant Banda alongside emerging talents such as Exauce Mfuni Ngoy, an actor from the Dzaleka Refugee Camp, according to Dzaleka.com.
