Police in Chitipa District have arrested two men in connection with the murder of a 60-year-old man, according to Malawi24. Chitipa Police Station public relations officer Sergeant Rabson Mkandawire identified the suspects as 41-year-old George Kalinga and 45-year-old Briton Mwamphachi, both of Ipenza 6 Village. The arrests follow investigations into the death of Flaywell Sichalwe, who was discovered dead in a pool of blood inside his home in Yanga One Village on the morning of July 1 after a night of drinking. A post-mortem examination at Kameme Health Centre determined the victim died from severe blood loss, and the two suspects are expected to appear in court soon to answer murder charges.

In separate judicial proceedings, the Senior Resident Magistrate Court in Zomba has scheduled July 31 for the sentencing of Senior Chief Malemia, Malawi24 reports. The traditional leader is currently awaiting his penalty after recently being convicted on two counts.
