Police in Ntcheu have arrested two security guards suspected of stealing 37 bags of fertiliser valued at K5 million from a shop in Kambilonjo, according to Face of Malawi. The suspects, identified as 34-year-old Godfrey Ngalande and 47-year-old Dalitso Billy, were apprehended after officers spotted individuals removing bags from a warehouse at night. Ntcheu Police spokesperson Jacob Khembo stated that investigators found the stolen goods, which belong to the Smallholder Farmers Fertiliser Revolving Fund of Malawi, at the suspects' homes. Both men are currently in police custody and are expected to appear in court soon.
In a separate incident, authorities in Blantyre arrested three men accused of manufacturing and selling counterfeit FCB Nyasa Big Bullets merchandise. According to Southern Region police spokesperson Beatrice Mikuwa, the suspects were identified as James Wisiki, Shaibu Jafali, and Brighton Jonathan. Face of Malawi reports that police seized various materials and equipment allegedly used to produce the fake T-shirts. Investigations are ongoing as the suspects face charges for passing off the locally manufactured items as official football club apparel.
Meanwhile, a police manhunt is underway in Nkhotakota for suspects who drugged and sexually assaulted a 21-year-old woman travelling from Dowa. Nkhotakota Police Station spokesperson Chisomo Chuma informed Face of Malawi that the woman boarded a vehicle on March 6, but the driver refused to stop at her intended destination. Passengers then forced her to drink an unidentified substance from a glass bottle, rendering her unconscious. She was discovered the following morning near the Liwala Graveyard and taken to Nkhotakota District Hospital for medical care while police continue their search for the attackers.
