Malawi's new Permanent Representative to the United Nations, General Griffin Spoon Phiri, officially presented his diplomatic credentials to UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Friday, according to United Nations press releases. The formal presentation in New York confirms the retired general's role as Malawi's chief envoy to the international organization.

In bilateral developments, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation George Chaponda met with British High Commissioner Leigh Stubblefield on Thursday. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions focused on advancing economic diplomacy and trade. Chaponda urged British investors to pursue local opportunities in fertiliser production and critical mineral exploration. In response, Stubblefield advised the government to use the Malawi-UK Chamber of Commerce to facilitate investments and expand bilateral trade.
