Returning Miss World contestant Ireen Navicha received a K20 million Master's degree scholarship to Sharda University in India from Maranatha Academy upon her arrival at Kamuzu International Airport on Tuesday. According to The Nation, the former Maranatha student reached the Top 40 at the 2026 Miss World pageant in Vietnam and placed in Africa's Top 6 for her "Beauty With a Purpose" project. Navicha announced plans to build a girls' hostel in Lilongwe to help school dropouts and teen mothers resume their education.
