Update: The Malawi Police Service has intensified the search for Nusrat Osman, a British national abducted from her home in Blantyre last week. According to Nyasa Times, police are now sending SMS messages to the public and have offered a K30 million reward for credible information leading to her rescue. In a separate abduction case in Mangochi, Monkey Bay police arrested two men on suspicion of kidnapping an 11-year-old boy. Nyasa Times reports that the suspects were apprehended after a tip-off revealed they had hidden the child and were attempting to sell him.

Meanwhile, police in Chileka have arrested 16 suspects in connection with a mob justice murder in Lunzu. According to Malawi24, the suspects are accused of burning a 35-year-old man to death on September 13 after falsely accusing him of stealing a motorcycle. Authorities later confirmed the victim was simply walking home from a trading centre at the time of the attack.

In Lilongwe, police arrested a 33-year-old man following a violent home invasion at Mbavi-Four Ways. Malawi24 reports that a gang armed with machetes and an axe hacked an accountant and assaulted his wife before stealing valuables worth K6.7 million, including a firearm and laptops. The police recovered the stolen items, along with weapons and 35 rounds of ammunition, and are continuing the search for the remaining suspects.

In Chikwawa, a football match argument turned deadly on September 13. Face of Malawi reports that a 33-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing a fellow spectator in the abdomen during a dispute over the game. The victim died while receiving treatment at a local health centre, and the suspect is expected to appear in court soon to face a murder charge.
