The Clooney Foundation for Justice has partnered with the University of Malawi (UNIMA) to offer fully-paid law scholarships to 30 Malawian girls, according to Nyasa Times. The initiative, announced by foundation co-founder Amal Clooney in Zomba on Tuesday, includes a fellowship program for early-career lawyers dedicated to protecting women and children from violence. The foundation noted that the scholarships aim to address a severe shortage of legal professionals in the country, where fewer than 1,000 lawyers currently serve a population of 22 million.

In higher education admissions, the University of Livingstonia (UNILIA) has extended the application deadline for its September 2026 intake to September 21, 2026. Official university statements indicate that the extension is designed to accommodate prospective students who recently received their Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination results, as well as candidates who missed the initial call for applications.
