The University of Malawi (UNIMA) and the Malawi College of Distance Education (MCDE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to expand Open, Distance, and e-Learning (ODeL) initiatives across the country, according to MBC Online. The partnership will support a new Postgraduate Diploma in Open and Distance Learning, with 41 students already enrolled for the current academic year. Secretary for Education Ken Ndala and UNIMA Vice Chancellor Professor Samson Sajidu stated that the collaboration aims to increase higher education access for students unable to attend conventional classes and will help develop specialists to manage digital learning programs.
Additionally, a Ministry of Education delegation traveled to Zambia this week to study the implementation of the Zambian School Health Programme, according to regional news broadcasts. Virginia Hachigunda, Malawi's Director of Inclusive Education and School Health, noted that the educational visit will inform ongoing efforts to improve and expand health interventions for learners in Malawian schools.
