Veteran Malawian gospel star Wycliffe Chimwendo has announced a major return to the stage to celebrate his 30-year milestone in the music industry. According to Nyasa Times, the hitmaker behind popular tracks such as "Total Lie" and "Afafaniza" is preparing to release new music and will headline a 30th-anniversary concert at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe on December 20, 2026. Chimwendo, whose debut hit "Wanga Ndi Yesu" was released in 1996, stated that he feels energised for the comeback and looks forward to continuing his musical ministry.
The December concert is expected to be a major event for the country's gospel music fans. Nyasa Times reports that Chimwendo will share the stage with a lineup of fellow veteran artists, including Kenya-based Chrissie Kamthunzi, Bishop Reverend Chimwemwe Mhango, the Ndirande Anglican Voices, and Lloyd Phiri and the Happiness Voices.
