Update: Following earlier coverage of the police investigation into the murder of an FDH Bank employee in Dowa, new details have emerged. A postmortem report confirmed that Tathokoza Salimu died from a gunshot wound to the neck, according to Nyasa Times. Nyasa Times adds that Dowa Police have intensified their manhunt for the suspects who abandoned her body in a vehicle near Tatolonga Bridge.

New evidence surfaced in the murder trial of Agnes Katengeza. Testifying at the High Court in Lilongwe, police detective Penjani Ng'ambi revealed that tracking Katengeza's missing iPhone led investigators to her brother, Amos Katengeza, who was caught with other stolen gadgets, Nation Online reports. According to The Atlas Malawi, Amos subsequently implicated his sister, Egnat Katengeza, in the murder plot. The Atlas Malawi also notes that police told the court Egnat was the sole beneficiary of the deceased's Reserve Bank of Malawi pension fund.

At the international level, the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights delivered a default judgment against the Republic of Malawi. According to Tranquillity News, the pan-African court ruled on September 24 that the country's judicial system violated the fair trial rights of two citizens, Kambeyo Ka-Kaunda and Emmie Chenda Mkandawire, during a flawed 16-year property dispute in the domestic courts.

In local crime news, Kanengo Police in Lilongwe arrested two women in connection with a shoplifting spree. Face of Malawi reports that 34-year-old Martha Mbewe and 31-year-old Angella Banda allegedly stole K700,000 worth of clothes and baby supplements from two shops in Area 25 before being caught attempting to target a third store. Police confirmed to Face of Malawi that they are still searching for a third accomplice who remains at large.
