The Malawi Queens secured the bronze medal at the Africa Netball Cup after defeating Namibia 50-45 in Nairobi on Saturday, according to Nyasa Times. The third-place finish followed a 62-46 semi-final defeat to South Africa on Friday. Despite missing out on the championship match, advancing to the semi-finals officially secured their place at the 2027 Netball World Cup in Sydney, Australia. Following the victory over Namibia, coach Debbie Fuller commended her squad's efforts but cautioned that the team needs to go up another two or three levels for global competition.

In football news, the Flames opened their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a 2-1 win over South Sudan on Friday night at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe. According to Sports Mole, a 20th-minute goal from Babatunde Adepoju and a 64th-minute winner from Lloyd Njaliwa secured the three points for Malawi. Nyasa Times reported that head coach Kalisto Pasuwa entered the fixture under intense pressure. While the team secured the home victory, local media noted that poor stadium attendance overshadowed the opening match.
