Organisers of the Maso Awards have removed the media and film categories from this year's edition of the event, according to a September 28 report from Malawi24. Executive director August Mukisi announced the removal of these sections, alongside fashion and photography, to create dedicated and specialised categories for the professions in future editions.
In other entertainment news, Malawian hip-hop artist Aubrey Ghambi, popularly known as Suffix, has launched a new educational initiative in Chitipa. According to Malawi24, the rapper introduced the Aubrey Ghambi Excellence Award at Yamba and Ngoya Community Day Secondary Schools, investing over half a million kwacha to recognise outstanding students and teachers in the district.
During the launch, the artist also commended a local Mother Group for providing reusable sanitary pads to female students. This local initiative is designed to help reduce school absenteeism related to menstruation among young women.
