Organisers of the 2026 Sand Music Festival have announced a last-minute venue change, moving the upcoming event from Sunbird Nkopola Leisure Centre to Kingfisher Inn in Mangochi, according to Nyasa Times. Impakt Events Management lead coordinator Yamikani Chinguwo explained that the relocation was necessary to avoid scheduling conflicts that arose after the festival's dates were previously pushed back to October 23 to 25.
Despite the sudden switch, organisers noted that the new location offers distinct advantages for attendees. Chinguwo told Nyasa Times that Kingfisher Inn provides a wider area for camping and a large, secure compound capable of accommodating all attendee vehicles within its perimeter. The updated venue will also offer expanded space to feature Malawian-owned bars and food stalls throughout the event.
