Meanwhile, controversy surrounds an upcoming performance by South African amapiano artist Mawhoo, scheduled for October 16 at Scalla's Cafe in Blantyre. According to Malawi24, the civil group Voice of the Voiceless Malawi has formally requested the show be cancelled due to public anger over the recent mistreatment of Malawian migrants in South Africa. Despite widespread online opposition, organizers Kuwala Events told Nation Online the performance will proceed as planned, citing regional business ties.

In festival updates, Zambian hitmaker Yo Maps has been confirmed as the headline act for the upcoming Sand Music Festival. According to Nyasa Times, the event will proceed at its recently announced new venue, the Kingfisher Inn. Furthermore, the Lake of Stars Festival is set to take place from October 2 to October 4 at Fish Eagle Bay Lodge in Nkhotakota.
