Update: FCB Nyasa Big Bullets midfielder Chawanangwa Gumbo has received a late call-up to the Malawi Flames squad, according to the FCB Nyasa Big Bullets official website. His addition brings the number of Bullets players in the current national setup to five as the Flames prepare for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola on October 6.

In netball, preparations are complete for the Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba Northern Netball League Regional Finals. The tournament will take place in Mzuzu at the Rosedale Courts from October 3 to 4. According to AVANT Publications, the competition will feature top regional teams vying for a spot in the FDH Premier Netball League and a K2 million prize for the champions.

Off the pitch, Mighty Wanderers Football Club and club president Dr. Thom Mpinganjira have jointly donated K10 million to the Sports Writers Association of Malawi. Nyasa Times reports that the financial support will fund the association's Annual General Meeting scheduled for November 13 to 15 in Salima. At the event, sports journalists will undergo training and mark World Sports Journalists Day.
