Malawian Artists Drop New Music as Lilongwe Gears Up for Afro Fest

In the Malawian music scene, several artists released new tracks over the weekend, according to music platform Amati Zambiri. On October 2, Chifuniro Mulamba dropped "My Life Has Found Peace," Oana released "Dzuka," and Merchah debuted "Zathapo". The new releases continued as MK Malaone put out "Bestie" on October 3, followed by Organised Family releasing "Scochers(Mbambande)" on October 4.

Update: Preparations are continuing for the inaugural Afro Fest scheduled for October 10 at the BICC Square in Lilongwe. Kwacha Tivine reports that the festival's confirmed lineup includes local star Kell Kay performing alongside Nigerian acts such as Johnny Drille, Bayanni, Ladipoe, and Teni. In other local entertainment, Lilongwe residents gathered at Aero Lounge on October 3 for the Old Xool RNB Brunch, which featured classic music sets from DJ Bobo, DJ Slow Mo, and DJ Maya.

In cultural and sporting events, the African Union Sports Council Region 5 Games torch arrived at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on October 3, according to Malawi Nation. Youth, Sports and Culture Minister Alfred Gangata welcomed the flame, calling it a symbol of African unity as local athletes prepare for the regional competition set to take place in Mozambique this December.
