Malawi national team head coach Kalisto Pasuwa has emphasised the need for the Flames to schedule future warm-up matches against top opposition from North and West Africa, according to Pan-Africa Football. Speaking ahead of the upcoming four-nation invitational tournament in Botswana from March 23 to 31, Pasuwa noted that teams from Southern Africa often struggle against North and West African sides. For the current international window, the Flames will only face regional opponents, including Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Zambia. Pasuwa also reported that the locally based players currently in training camp are showing improved fitness levels after undergoing physical tests following their off-season break.

In regional club football, Malawian internationals Robert Saizi and Christopher Kumwembe featured in the Zambian MTN Super League on Thursday, as reported by Owinna. Kumwembe was introduced in the 61st minute for Green Buffaloes, while Saizi entered the match for ZANACO FC four minutes later to help his side secure a 1-1 draw. Fellow Malawian midfielder Chimwemwe Idana remained an unused substitute for ZANACO.

Update: In domestic football transfers, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Pilirani Mapira, according to Owinna. Continuing the club's recent wave of squad additions, the former Mighty Wanderers goalkeeper has agreed to a two-year contract until 2028.
