The Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services has issued fresh weather alerts for Lake Malawi and other major water bodies. According to a forecast published on October 16, meteorologists are warning that moderate to strong Mvuma winds will continue to blow across the lake, extending a recent pattern of severe weather advisories for the area.

National weather conditions are expected to remain harsh through the weekend. The department reports that most of Malawi will experience windy, partly cloudy, hot, and hazy conditions. Forecasters attribute this persistent hot weather pattern to the ongoing influence of an easterly air mass moving over the country.
