A recent study conducted in Malawi's Neno District has revealed high levels of suicidal behavior among chronic care patients suffering from depression, according to a report published in BMC Public Health. The research, led by Partners In Health in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the RAND Corporation, found that 10.3 percent of the 2,240 patients receiving chronic care who were screened for depression exhibited suicidal behavior.

Researchers emphasized that the results show a clear need for direct mental health support and routine depression screening within rural health facilities.
