The inaugural Roots of Malawi Culture Festival took place at the Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe on October 17. Conceived by Malawian artist Tay Grin under Black Rhyno Entertainment, the festival brought together traditional music, dance, local cuisine, and fashion to celebrate the nation's heritage. The event featured live performances from several notable acts, including legendary musician Gidesi Chalamanda, according to Malawi24.
Update: South African amapiano star Mawhoo proceeded with her scheduled concert at Scalla's Cafe in Blantyre on October 16. Despite earlier public pushback and calls for cancellation from civil groups over the mistreatment of Malawians in South Africa, Kuwala Events coordinator Newton Chikakuda publicly confirmed the show would go on to maintain regional business ties, according to Nation Online.
