Update: The FDH Bank Premiership title race continues to intensify as FCB Nyasa Big Bullets claimed the top spot in the standings this weekend. Bullets secured a 1-0 victory over Civil Service United at Mpira Stadium on Saturday thanks to an 83rd-minute winner from Paul Master, Nyasa Times reports. The result allowed Bullets to pull ahead after title rivals Silver Strikers were held to a 0-0 draw by Kamuzu Barracks at Silver Stadium. These fixtures played out under new safety protocols, following earlier coverage of the Football Association of Malawi instituting mandatory cooling breaks and delayed kick-offs to protect players from the country's extreme heatwave.

In other league action on Friday, Ekhaya FC defeated Standard Bank Blue Eagles 2-1 at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre. John Mchema scored in the 21st and 59th minutes to secure the win, moving Ekhaya up to fifth place in the Premiership, according to Nyasa Times and Malawi24.

Meanwhile, youth football development received financial backing as National Bank of Malawi plc announced the second season of its Under-23 Championship. Nyasa Times reports that the tournament features a K600 million sponsorship package and was scheduled to open at Rumphi Stadium on Sunday. Bank representatives stated the initiative is designed to provide young talent with structured competitive experience and a clear path to senior levels.
