Sunday, March 15, 2026

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) will hold the draw for the National Bank of Malawi (NBM) Championship on Monday, March 16, ahead of the upcoming national finals, according to the association's official website. The draw, which will take place at the NBM headquarters in Blantyre, features four regional champions: Karonga United Reserve from the Northern Region, Mponela FC from the Central Region, Kababa Academy from the Eastern Region, and QPL Stars from the Southern Region. The semi-finals are scheduled for March 20 at Champion Stadium in Mponela, with the final set for March 22. The winning team will receive K10 million in prize money.

In other local football developments, the Mighty Wanderers have been confirmed as the headline team for the fourth edition of the Sapitwa 4 pre-season tournament, Maravi Express reports. Scheduled for the weekend of March 28 and March 29 at Mulanje Park, the tournament will see the Wanderers competing alongside the Red Lions, Dedza Dynamos, and Ekhaya FC. Organisers noted the event aims to help clubs prepare for the upcoming season of the newly recommissioned FDH Bank Premiership while boosting local tourism in the Mulanje district.

Meanwhile, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have announced further squad adjustments ahead of the 2026 to 2027 season. According to a March 13 club statement, goalkeeper Richard Chimbamba, defender Blessings Joseph, and midfielder Lameck Gamphani have all been placed on the transfer list. The team also confirmed the mutual departure of 27-year-old goalkeeper Clever Mkungula. Mkungula, who previously won the club's Best Goalkeeper award in 2022, endured a frustrating recent stretch due to a prolonged knee injury.
