The Malawi Library Association (MALA) has officially graduated 24 students in Library and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) studies during a ceremony held at the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) in Lilongwe, Nyasa Times reports. Speaking at the event, MALA President Felix Majawa challenged the new professionals to embrace their roles as custodians of knowledge and facilitators of information access across the country.

Majawa urged the cohort to recognise the impact their profession holds for society, noting that their work will directly help students learn, assist researchers in their discoveries, and allow local communities to grow. He also encouraged the graduates to remain active within the association to ensure continuous development and to uphold professional standards as the information sector evolves.

Addressing the graduates as the guest of honour, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Library Services Bonney W. Sangole underscored the importance of libraries in preserving Malawi's cultural heritage and indigenous knowledge. She stated that libraries serve as repositories of traditional wisdom for future generations and stressed the need to engage local communities to ensure the benefits of education reach every corner of the nation.
