LUANAR Sets Dates for SAVE-Funded Courses as MANEB Opens Bids for Marking Centre Catering

Thursday, March 19, 2026

According to the official Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) website, the institution has finalised logistics for its SAVE-funded certificate programmes, with orientation scheduled for March 23. The short courses will run until April 23 at the Bunda Campus and the Nathenje Rural Training Centre. Students will study subjects including renewable energy systems, agricultural mechanisation, and dairy entrepreneurship. The university noted that participants will receive upkeep allowances, though all attendees must undergo a final eligibility screening upon registration to retain their scholarships.

In other education sector news, the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) has opened national competitive bidding for the provision of catering services at its 2026 marking centres, according to the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority. The official invitation for bids, issued on March 18, seeks eligible service providers for the 2026 to 2027 financial year. Interested suppliers have until April 7 to submit their paperwork, which will be followed by a public bid opening at the MANEB boardroom.

Meanwhile, the University of Malawi (UNIMA) and the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) recently conducted career guidance sessions at Kamuzu Academy in Kasungu, according to statements released by both universities this week. The university representatives focused on equipping Form 5 and Form 6 learners with academic information to help them navigate university admissions and select appropriate degree programmes for their future careers.
