According to Nyasa Times, the Secondary School Teachers Union (SESTU) has formally petitioned the Ministry of Labour, demanding a seat at the table in the ongoing government salary and service condition negotiations for the 2026/2027 financial year. SESTU General Secretary Frank Druwen Moyo stated that the union has been systematically excluded. He argued that current representatives such as the Teachers Union of Malawi and the Civil Servants Trade Union do not fully capture the specific needs of secondary school educators. Moyo warned that ignoring their demands could lead to widespread discontent within the education sector.

In Kasungu District, an artificial intelligence learning system called "Blind Classroom" is improving the academic performance of visually impaired students at Chilanga School for the Blind, The Rising Nepal reports. Developed by young Malawian innovator Staff Nyoni, the interactive audio software replaces traditional Braille books and allows students to navigate lessons using simple voice commands. Save the Children Malawi Innovation Manager Bright Chidzumeni announced that the organisation is currently funding the expansion of the technology to 14 schools for the blind across the country.

Meanwhile, the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) has officially opened the bidding process for catering services across all its marking centres for the 2026/2027 financial year, according to the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority. The invitation for national competitive bids, issued on March 18, covers the provision of food services during the upcoming examination marking period, with bid submissions scheduled to close on April 7.

In higher education, the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) is preparing to launch its SAVE-funded University certificate programmes, reports the university's official website.
