Update: Karonga United Reserves to Face Mponela FC in National Bank Championship Final

Update: Karonga United Reserves and Mponela FC have advanced to the final of the National Bank of Malawi Championship following semifinal victories on Friday, according to the Football Association of Malawi. The teams will compete for the national title on Sunday at Champion Stadium in Mponela.

In the first semifinal, Northern Region representatives Karonga United Reserves defeated Eastern Region side Kababa Academy 2-0. According to FAM, Madalo Afiki opened the scoring in the 67th minute before Paul Gift Mulungu secured the win with a stoppage-time goal.

In the second match, Central Region champions Mponela FC beat Southern Region winners QPL Stars 3-1. Mponela took early control with a first-half brace from Archangel Mayola, as reported by FAM. QPL Stars responded with a penalty kick from Wezzie Gondwe, but Phillip Banda sealed the result for Mponela with an 86th-minute strike. Kababa Academy and QPL Stars are scheduled to play a third-place playoff match before the final championship game.
